I have absolutely no shame in admitting that my other favorite Brian DePalma film is "Phantom of the Paradise." DePalma regular William Finley stars as Winslow Leech, a songwriter who's trying to get mogul Swan (Paul Williams) to take a listen to his latest cantata. But when Swan blatantly swipes the music (and changes it to suit a beach-band), Winslow tries to fight back -- but finds himself horribly disfigured in a record-press accident(!). Soon he dons a mask and begins haunting the Paradise theatre, but Swan agrees to give the music to Phoenix (Jessica Harper), the girl of Winslow's dreams. A bizarre mix of comedy, drama, music, the Faust legend, "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Picture of Dorian Grey," "Phantom" was a commercial failure during its 1974 release. However, it later gained a devout cult following, and there's been numerous rumors about a remake. If you're a fan of the film, make sure to check out The Swan Archive for a wealth of information about the movie!

I *love* this movie, too. I just bought the region 2 special edition and it was worth every penny!
