Easily my favorite film next to "Carrie" that stars Spacek is the bleak, talky "'night, Mother." Based on the play, Spacek takes over the role of Jessie (originated on the stage by Kathy Bates), an epileptic who's isolated herself from the world, living in her mother's (Anne Bancroft) home. Unfolding in real-time, Jessie tells her mother that she's going to kill herself, and the next 90 minutes is her mother trying to talk her out of it -- and Jessie trying to explain why she has no reason to live. Low-budget and a commercial failure, one has to be in the right frame of mind to appreciate this emotional roller-coaster.

I thought this was a great movie. Sissy really delievers every line with heartfelt emotion.
