In 2003, Clarkson starred opposite Oliver Platt as the dying mother of Katie Holmes in the offbeat black dramedy "Pieces of April." It's Thanksgiving and April (Holmes) is trying unsuccessfully to prepare the perfect feast for her reluctantly visiting family. The main problem is that April and her family can't stand each other, and problems continuously arise both in April's apartment building and for her family, who take a road trip to NYC to visit her.
